Family Support Worker

Parenting can be the toughest job in the world. We are here to support you by providing advice and guidance on your child’s behaviour, development and education.

We can:

  • provide access to group parenting courses which cover a number of areas such as child development, social and emotional development, behaviour concerns, praise and boundaries.
  • provide access to community activities such as healthy cookery courses and family learning events
  • direct you to local services that will be able to provide relevant or specialist support for you and your family
  • provide advice, support and information on managing your child’s behaviour, school attendance and working in partnership with your child’s school

Working with you through our referral system we will;

  • Work with your family on a one to one basis to identify your areas of concern and support you to implement strategies for change
  • Support you and your family to meet the goals you have identified
  • Give you tools for the future to continue working together to build a strong family unit

Do you want to volunteer?

Parent Information Contacts

Each school has the opportunity to have a Parent Information Contact within school. PICs are volunteer parents who talk to other parents informally in and around school and in the playground about the support, advice and information that the CIP can offer.

We offer training and support to any parent who wants to volunteer as a PIC but all you need is to be good at listening and interested in helping other parents in your local community.

We currently have 6 schools with PICs and are always on the look out for more. For further information, please contact Mandy in the office.

Youth Volunteers

After a successful pilot, we have a core group of youth volunteers who help us to run all of our youth projects as well as deliver our Boost holiday provision. Being a youth volunteer is an excellent opportunity for young people to experience working on a variety of projects as well as acting as positive role models for their peers and other young people.

As our current volunteers get ready to leave school and move on to bigger things, we will be on the look out to recruit more youth volunteers. For more information, please contact James in the office

Host a course

We regularly run courses throughout the year and like to run them in venues accessible to all of our families across all of our 22 schools. If you would like to offer us a room to run one of parenting or cookery courses in, free of charge please contact Lindsay in the office.
